Yao-wen Huang is a professor of the Food Science and Technology, and an adjunct professor in marine Sciences, the University of Georgia. He is consultant professor/advisor in several universities and research institutes in China including Shanghai Jiaotung University, Shanghai Fisheries University, Zhejiang Gongshan University, Hainan University, Shanghai Institute of Technology, Shanxi Academy of Agriculture Sciences. He is a certified New Food Product Development Professional (NPDP), a certified Trainer/instruction for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) System, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), "ServSafe" Program of the National Restaurant Association for restaurant food safety manager certification program. Dr. Huang teaches New Food Product Development, Introduction of Food Science and Technology, Seafood Technology courses, Honor Seminar, and Food Science Internship. His current research areas include application of nanotechnology in food systems, food microbiology and safety/security, traditional Asian functional foods. Currently, he is Chair of the International Division of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), the professional organization; Chair of the International Division of the 2008 International Intel Science and Engineering Fair in Atlanta; Chair of the Chinese foodservice education section of the Georgia Food Safety Task Forces (GFSTF). He is co-organizer for the Georgia Food Safety First Annual Conference (May 5 2006 in Macon, GA) and organizer for the Global Chinese Health Food Symposium (July 25-26 2007 in Chicago, IL). In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Huang have been providing expert service/consultation to the food industry and academia at home and abroad especially in Thailand, Egypt, Taiwan and China.
