Monte Jade Seminar Series: "Financing Your Business"
May 23, 2005 -- 6:30 pm. at Emory's Goizueta Business School

The Monte Jade Science and Technology Association's (MJSTA) 2005 Seminar Series, “The Entrepreneurial Process”, will continue with part 2 “Financing Your Business” on May 23 rd 2005. The event will be held at 6:30 pm in Emory's Goizueta Business School , room 201. The 4 part Seminar Series is focused on discussing the life cycle of a business from startup to exit. This year Monte Jade will also partner with the Association of Chinese Professionals (ACP) and National Association of Asian-American Professionals (NAAAP) to coordinate this event.

The Seminar will be presented by an expert panel of Venture Capitalist (David Sung, Managing Director of HIG Ventures), an Angel Investor from Atlanta Technology Angels (ATA), and Commercial Banker (Gary McClung, CEO of Century Security Bank). Please see below for more information and bios of the speakers.

If you've ever thought about starting your own business or might be interested in the future, make sure you plan to attend. Admission is $10 for MJSTA, ACP, and NAAAP members and $15 for non-members, and will include and a hors d'oeuvre reception . In addition, there will be drawings for 2 door prizes.

Information/Bio of Speakers

David Sung

David is the Managing Director of H.I.G. Ventures, a leading private equity and venture capital investment firm with more than $1.5 Billion of equity capital under management. Mr. Sung has 15 years of operational, entrepreneurial and venture capital experience. Before joining H.I.G, he was a Partner at Commonwealth Capital Ventures, leading investments in storage networking and enterprise security. Before entering the venture capital business, Mr. Sung was Co-Founder and CEO of Crescent Networks and a Co-Founder of Cadia Networks. He also held engineering, marketing and executive management positions at Cascade Communications, Avici Systems, FORE Systems and Bytex Corp.

Mr. Sung received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University .

Gary McClung

Gary is CEO and Co-Organizers of Century Security Bank, IO. Century Security focuses on meeting the commercial banking needs of small businesses located in the North Metro Atlanta area. One of Century Security's niches will be to serve the rapidly growing Asian community in North Metropolitan Atlanta, particularly the small business and professional market. Gary has spent over 33 years in the banking industry, most recently as Executive VP and CFO for Summit Bank Corporation (NASDAQ:SBGA) where he served 13 years. His responsibilities included the finance, retail branches, operations, training, information technology, and merger/acquisition functions. During his term with Summit , in addition to two (2) highly successful acquisitions, the institution grew to $550 million in assets in eight (8) offices from $70 million in 1992.

Mr. McClung received his BBA from West Virginia State University and also graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at LSU and the WV School of Banking.

Atlanta Technology Angels (ATA)

The Atlanta Technology Angels (ATA) is a private group, founded in 1998, that actively invests in early stage technology companies based in Atlanta . ATA is an active source of private capital and business experience to local technology entrepreneurs. ATA, as a group, has invested more than $15,000,000 in 30 Atlanta technology companies between 1999 and 2004.
