Monte Jade Seminar Series: "The Entrepreneurial Process"
March 29, 2005 -- 6:00 pm. at Rock Bottom Brewery in Buckhead
The Monte Jade Science and Technology Association (MJSTA) hosted the first of a four-part series on called “The Entrepreneurial Process” on March 29 th , 2005 at the Rock Bottom Brewery in Buckhead. Two other organizations, Association of Chinese Professionals (ACP) and National Association of Asian-American Professionals (NAAAP), co-hosted the event to make it a very successful seminar. A total of 60+ people attend the event. The purpose of this seminar is to promote and educate people on how to start a new business and grow it successfully.
The seminar was highlighted by three speakers from various areas of expertise. Mike Greenlee, who is a partner in the law firm Smith Frohwein Tempel Greenlee Blaha, LLC, as well as a principal in the Lava Group, was the first speaker. He touched on financial issues relating to the new enterprise. KP Reddy, the president of RCMS group, spoke about the importance of sales and marketing. Palaniswamy “Raj” Rajan ended the discussions sharing his experiences with entrepreneurship and venture capitalism gained as the CEO of Vigilar. Together, the entrepreneur speakers have sold their businesses for over $200 million.The second part in this four-part series is scheduled for May, and will focus on issues relating to financing a new business. Anyone interested in starting up a new business or is presently working for a young startup business should attend this series.

Palaniswamy "Raj" Rajan

Palaniswamy "Raj" Rajan brings more than 12 years experience in the technology industry and combines a deep understanding of current technologies with the ability to articulate the application of these technologies in various business contexts and models. Raj conceived Vigilar's business plan, raised venture capital funding and recruited a talented management team. |
Prior to Vigilar, he co-founded eLaunchpad, an Internet infrastructure and network security venture capital firm. Raj was also the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of VerticalOne Corporation, the first provider of Web-based account aggregation services. In November 1999 VerticalOne was acquired by S1 Corporation (NASDAQ-SONE) in a deal that valued at $166 million. Prior to VerticalOne, Raj's other entrepreneurial ventures included an IT consulting firm that specialized in large scale distributed object-oriented computing and an executive recruiting firm.
In addition, he is the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Atlanta High Tech CEO Council, the leading executive networking group in the Southeast. Raj also co-founded the Atlanta chapter of TIE (The Indus Entrepreneurs), a national organization mentoring to entrepreneurs. He also served on the Board of Councilors for The Carter Center, a leadership advisory group that serves to promote understanding of and support for The Carter Center and its activities among private-sector opinion leaders in Georgia . |

KP Reddy began his career in Law Engineering and developed a proven track record for starting businesses, mostly in the IT and Telecom arenas. His passion for finding fresh markets for technologies led Mr. Reddy back to his Civil Engineering roots to create RCMS, which now brings true innovation and value to the architectural, engineering, construction and interior design markets.
As President of RCMS Group, Mr. Reddy provides leadership to RCMS and its subsidiaries which deliver integrated services to the real estate development community. Prior to founding RCMS, Mr. Reddy was Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Operations of Verso Technologies. Previously, Mr. Reddy served as Chief Technology Officer of Cereus Technology Partners, the successor to Cereus, which he founded in 1997, serving as Chief Executive Officer and President until the company was acquired in 1999. During his tenure with both Cereus and Verso, Mr. Reddy established a knowledge base in the latest Internet technologies including transport, applications, security, management and electronic commerce.
Mr. Reddy graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering in June 1994. Mr. Reddy is an active Alumnus of the Georgia Institute of Technology and serves as a Mentor Member for TiE Atlanta as well as on the board of directors for several privately held companies.
