The Monte Jade Science and Technology Association (Southeastern U.S.), Inc. is aimed to promote entrepreneurship in advanced science and technology; to establish a common forum to network and share best practices in investment, technology, management and business opportunities; to create opportunities for the cooperation and mutual flow of technology and investment globally.

The first Monte Jade Science and Technology Association was founded in February 1990 in Silicon Valley. The organization, subsequently known as Monte Jade West Coast, became the model for other regional organizations bearing the name "Monte Jade," including

  • East Coast, formed in the Metrepolitan New York Area on March 30, 1991;
  • Mid-America, formed in Chicago on April 6, 1991;
  • Greater Washington Area, formed in Washington D.C. on November 23, 1991;
  • New England, formed on May 22, 1992;
  • Greater Pittsburgh, formed on November 21, 1992;
  • Southeaster U.S., formed in Atlanta on January 16, 1993; and
  • Greater Philadelphia, formed on October 24, 1993.

"Monte Jade" is the highest mountain on Taiwan, its peak covered in glistening snow year round. The Profile of Monte Jade towering over neighboring peaks has long been viewed by the residents on the subtropical island as a spiritual inspiration for their pursuit of brilliance, continuity, and integrity. The founders of the Monte Jade Associations aspire to achieve the same ideals.

On February 21, 1993, representatives of the Monte Jade Associations gathered, fittingly, in Silicon Valley and formally forged the union of their organizations. The union was named, naturally, "Monte Jade Science and Technology Association."

The Monte Jade Science and Technology Association ("Monte Jade") seeks to achieve:

  • The exchange of current industry trends and other business information among the member Monte Jade Associations;
  • Cross-boarded, multi-party flow of technologies and capital;
  • Timely report on investment and management issues of common interest to the member associations;
  • In-depth review of issues of common concern to the member associations; and
  • The origination of activities in furtherance of the interactions among Chinese American-owned companies.

Monte Jade conducts the following functions on a regular basis:

  • Annual convention;
  • Local technology and business seminars, and other related activities hosted by the member associations;
  • Liaison activities between trade organizations in Taiwan/R.O.C. and the member associations and local U.S. business communities; and
  • Communications with the relevant federal, state and local government agencies, and U.S. business organizations.

Monte Jade aims to unite the human and financial resources of Chinese Americans in the high-tech and related industries. As the industries are increasingly confronted with global challenges, Monte Jade will pursue all avenues to promote the visibility of its members not only in the United States, but also on the international stage.

Monte Jade recognizes its members' special relationships with the Pacific Rim countries and strives to bridge the high-tech business networks between those contries and the United States.
