"Applications of Nanotechnology in Food Safety and Public Health"

Monte Jade Science and Technology Association of Southeastern Region (MJSTA-SE) will host 2008’s first MJSTA Gathering on February 28 (Thursday), 6:30 PM, at China Inn (5470 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Atlanta, GA 30341. Tel: 770-458-6363).
The invited speaker for this Gathering is Professor Y. W. Huang of University of Georgia at Athens. Dr. Huang is a professor at the Department of Food Science and Technology, University of Georgia. His research areas include food safety and microbiology and food product/process development. He teaches courses for undergraduate and graduate students including New Food Product Development, Introduction of Food science and technology and Seafood Technology. He is certified trainers for Restaurant Food Safety Manger program and HACCP system for food industry. Currently, he offers training classes for Chinese Restaurant managers.
Dr. Huang has been conducting research on rapid detection of pathogens, toxins and bioactive substances using nanotechnology-based sensor. He is going to give a presentation on what is nanotechnology? What is nano materials? How to apply the nanotechnology to the areas of food safety and public health.
